Episode Fifteen: A conversation with Veteran Hero

The creators are joined by local hero Matt Havniear.  Matthew is a hometown boy, born and raised in Southern Oregon. He joined the Marine Corps in 2007.  After Matt completed his service in the United States Marine Corps, he started a non-profit called Team Overland where he and his team organize camping expeditions for Veterans and Military Supporters to help Veterans reintegrate, network, and heal in a healthy and natural social environment. 

Matt's mission in life is to give back to the community, be the best version of himself that he can be, and to improve the life of fellow Veterans.

Matt currently works as a Qualified Mental Health Associate and Veterans Program Manager for ColumbiaCare Services where he helped create a Veterans Resource Center which serves as a main hub for Veterans experiencing homelessness to connect with multiple VA contracted programs to assist them into permanent housing. The Veterans Resource Center also helps Veterans connect with other services for housing, primary care providers, employment resources, behavioral health treatment and education benefits.
